Welcome to the Center for the Study of Languages. We are responsible for the teaching of 13 languages up until the third year of instruction. For each language, we are in the process of designing and implementing a three-year integrated curriculum congruent with the principles of proficiency-oriented instruction, where new technologies are an integral part of the syllabus. We are also involved in the area of proficiency testing. At present, we offer proficiency-based tests designed by ACTFL-certified instructors in the four modalities for Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish, and we are working on the other languages. The tests are delivered using the ExTemplate technology, designed by our own Language Resource Center.
