CLIC Course Changes

The Center for Languages and Intercultural Communication announces its new innovative curriculum based on its Mission Statement and vision for Rice language students in the 21st century. Over the next 3 semesters, 101 courses will become 161 and designated as the introductory language course. 102, 201, and 202 will become the intermediate-level courses 262, 263, and 264.

Our Center offers a Certificate of Language and Cultural Competency in all the languages that we teach. This Certificate serves to recognize excellence in language learning and advanced language competence through participation in study abroad, internships and standardized international exams.

From language tables to service learning courses to student internships, our Center is committed to engaging with the local community. We are especially interested in growing our internships and we will be announcing new scholarships soon.

Our Center administers a number of assessment instruments to determine (i) the effectiveness of our teaching and (ii) the learning outcomes of our students. We are also creating a number of innovative assessment tools to benchmark our learning outcomes with other universities.

CLIC is seeking applicants for two faculty positions: a full-time Lecturer in Korean with a projected 3/3 course load and part-time Lecturer in Italian with a projected 1/2 course load.
