Full Time Spanish Lecturer Position at Rice University
Rice University seeks to hire a specialist in content-based Spanish language instruction to teach language courses and to develop solid courses in the following areas: Medical Spanish and Arts/Mechanics of Translation. Candidates should be familiar with ACTFL national standards and be versed in proficiency-oriented teaching. Strong pluses: experience in multi-media applications and technology-enhanced instruction, Spanish for heritage learners, and OPI certification. Applicants should have at least near-native fluency and M.A. degree or equivalent. For appointment to rank of Lecturer, beginning on 1 July 2008. Part-Time Lecturer Position at Rice University
Rice University seeks a Part-time Lecturer to teach one Hindi language course per semester in its Center for Study of Languages. Candidates should demonstrate a sound understanding of modern communicative approaches to language-teaching and learning, including task-based proficiency-oriented instruction, and show a record of good teaching at the university level. Other desirable qualifications for this position are: the ability to develop and teach Hindi courses for special purposes and an understanding of the uses of modern technology, including multimedia applications, for the purpose of teaching and learning languages. Applicants should demonstrate at least near-native fluency in Hindi and hold an MA degree or its equivalent. The appointment is at the rank of part time Lecturer, beginning on 1 January 2008. The initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility for renewal. Salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience.
